Space gray iPhone X: Is the stainless steel also in space gray like the Apple Watch?

It Has similarities, but I believe it's different based off pictures.

No. It's most likely polished to a shiny metal.

With the notch, shiny edges and overall blingy look this iPhone is the most tasteless Apple product yet. Some people likes it. I don't.

Actually, I think it is black stainless steel. Look at this hands on video from 9to5mac. The stainless steel definitely looks dark.

the question is which will scratch easier. The chrome can be buffed but maybe the space grey doesn't scratch easy so no need to worry too much. Most will have a case most of time anyways.
