I know the Midnight color MacBook Air is a fingerprint magnet, but what about Space Gray? I'm torn between Silver and Space Gray.

space grey will still show some but hides it a lot better than the midnight. I went from midnight to silver and couldn't be happier with the silver.
Yeah I think Silver is the safest bet. As much as I love the Space Gray!

Thank you! 👍

ive had a lot of space grey apples products over the years, definitely my usual choice. I wanted to try something different and really liked the midnight colour but it showed even the tiniest little marks in the finish. I was ok about the fingerprints, but I didn't feel the finish was all that durable and was worried how it would age.

My first silver apple product and really love the look.

I think the silver color is gorgeous ... in bright light, it almost appears white. I have Starlight, and the gold tone is very subtle. Almost everything else I have is Space Grey, so I wanted something a little different for my MBA.

Space grey M2 here after silver M1. I chose it specifically for longevity of the paint and subtle color. Using it with a case and a thin keyboard cover

I really don't understand all the fuss with fingerprints. I mean I get that it can look bad but I don't care what color metal finish laptop I have had it gets fingerprints. The darker colors show way more than lighter colors.

However sometimes I like a dark color. I am so tired of silver and space grey. Like how many years can people use the same color over and over and space grey is not a big difference from silver IMHO.

I remember when Space Grey first became available and I had a black surface laptop. I really wanted something similar to the black Surface as it is just so good looking.

I would prefer a dark purple but when they announced midnight I was like finally another color choice besides space grey and silver.

As some others have mentioned the only real drawback to Midnight would be wear and tear along the ports and potential scratching to the case but again this could happen with any color and be obvious even on silver but obviously silver will show wear much less because there is no other color to the base metal.

In my opinion if you are worried about fingerprints or other wear and tear the obvious choice is silver. If you like silver then it is a great choice and I think Apple went with such a color for so long because they knew it would age the best.

I mean look at it this way unless you keep your devices in a wrapped box which then you couldn't use them they are going to get wear and tear. What bothers me to no end is the darn shiny keycaps on the keyboard. Every windows laptop I have had for at least the last 15 years has not had this problem and even on cheap devices. How Apple can sell a $4k plus laptop and in a month you have shiny keycaps is a huge mystery to me. That is something that really bothers me. Fingerprints not so much.

Silver can show fingerprints too! But silver is just the standard. It's iconic and holds up the best over the other finishes. Other brands like Lenovo tried to mimic the aesthetic by making "silverish" versions of their ThinkPads. And of course we have silver HP Elitebooks & Envy laptops. Along with Dell XPS, etc.

Midnight is a start in the darker realms of Apple notebooks. My true wish is a true matte black MacBook, like a stealth aircraft. With a light up Apple logo! It would have to be double anodized for durability, like the keyboard well of the new MacBook Pro, plus fingerprints on such a finish would probably be crazy.

My midnight only shows fingerprints if I put on hand cream and immediately pick it up, otherwise it's perfectly fine to the extent that I would notice. A simple wipe will clean everything anyways. So it should not deter you from picking darker colours.

Compared to jet black 7+ and steel 13 pro, midnight is really a walk in the park.

I've owned silver colored MacBooks going back to my titanium Powerbook. I bought an Air the other night— and THIS time, I wanted something different, darn it! I went with the space gray and I'm very happy with it. I don't think finger prints are too much of an issue given I've got microfiber towels all over the place.

That said: the Starlight is freaking GORGEOUS. On the way home from the Apple Store, all I could think about was how good it looked. I selected what I selected because I had made my mind made up a long time ago when the buying process began, and I wasn't about to make any rash decisions on the eleventh hour. But when I saw the Starlight in the flesh (so to speak), I was damn impressed. NO pictures or videos do it justice. It's really subtle. If you can look at one in person, you should.
