I recently bought a 2017 13 inch MacBook Pro. My other keys are very click and sharp. However, the spacebar sounds a little more hollow and not as clicky. There are no problems with the function. Should the space bar sound/feel the exact same as the other keys/ Or do the different mechanics make it different? Thank you.

Hi, I had same issue with mine and soon after I have noticed this it has progressed to sticking or being often stock while I was typing. Then I also noticed that my track pad didn’t work when I clicked and dragged every other time so I decided to take it to Apple store.....They tried cleaning the bar with dust off saying maybe food got stock under it?? I was like no I don’t eat on top of my computer so they decided to take it in for repair. Since it was purchased under business with insurance they gave me a new MBP on the spot. So I suggest u take urs in for diagnostics!! I don’t think space bar should feel different then any other key!!

Thank you! Unfortunately I didn't buy the warranty so bringing it in to fix is the last option. I will wait and see if the key starts to stick though.

Don’t wait, even if u didn’t buy Apple care + and other extended warranties naturally you are covered for one 1 year from the day of your purchase unless they can prove that the damage was phisical and not a factory defect.

If you dont have prove of purchase from the authorized dealer or store you can say this was a gift because luckily for you your computer came out in June of 2017- so u have all the right to demand repair which should take nolonger then 4 days turn arround time (if they can’t repair it in the store), that’s the only difference from your warranty and mine.

Maybe all they have to do is replace your keyboard but you wouldn’t know unless u bring it in:)

Come in say you are concerned because you know someone who had similar issue which gotten worse and u don’t want to wait untill ur warranty runs out u are annoyed the space bar sticks on such expensive machine which interupts your work flow blah blah.....

and btw you are still within a window to purchase extended warranty if u feel like it, but U really don’t have to in order to take care of this problem. Good luck!!

If it's a 2017, it's under warranty now.
If you're having problems, TAKE IT BACK.

Also, consider buying AppleCare (the regular version, not the "plus") before the 1-year warranty period expires.

Has anyone else had a similar issue? And was it significant?

I found a youtube video and this person's space bar sounds exactly like mine:

I am just curious if this is normal or an issue before I buy any warranty on it.
