I searched for this on various forums but can't quite find what I'm looking for.

Is there a way to assign a physical monitor to a space? Let's say I have 9 spaces. If I want number 9 to be assigned to an external physical display while all others act as regular virtual desktops, is that possible?

No. [You know how much work it is to say no! :) ].

Just for information: All the physical monitors together make one 'space' as you may already know.

Yeah, I figured as much, but I was hoping someone knew of a hack to do this.

With a one monitor setup, I think Spaces is a pretty good implementation but is sorely lacking on a multiple display setup. Just lacks some of the permutability of some of the *nix desktop manager. :(

Agreed. I have gone back to no spaces. That and the fact Word 2008 craps out on me big time (carbon/cocoa issues).
