I just recieved this email.....

Hi,

My name is Kelly Parker,

I’m the webmaster of *************** – A Backgammon game site with tips with option to play online backgammon and I am interested in cooperation with your website forums.macrumors.com.

Currently, I'm in the process of promoting some of my other sites and am looking for quality partners to exchange links with.
I believe that quality websites make things different and this is what I’m offering you.
I would like to know if it’s possible to exchange links so we both will get the benefits in traffic and page rank terms.
Please send me your websites that you are willing to exchange links with me and I’ll send you mine.

Many thanks in advance for your time and I look forward to hearing from you,
All the best,
Kelly Parker

I'm wondering if anyone else is receiving emails by association with MacRumors.... :)

Also do Arn & Dr.Q know I've been promoted to owner of MacRumors :D

Know for near certainty the spyders crawling the site will cull your e-mail if you post it.

Well you just helped them advertise their site by posting their web site. I usually just contacts the mods about spam email. I'd include this as spam as they should have used other methods to contact Mac Rumors.

Noted... and edited ;)

Tips about unwanted messages

If anyone sends you spam by Private Message, or by email sent via the forum system, please let us know as promptly as possible so we can put a stop to it.

If you post your email address publicly (in your signature, profile, or a post) and then get spam by direct email, we can't help you, but you can remove your email address from public display yourself (editing a post if necessary). That might lessen the chances that it will happen again.

Remember that one of your User Options lets you control whether or not other forum members can send you email via the forum system. If you enable this feature and somebody emails you that way, the forum system will send you a message. You will see the other user's email address but they will not see yours unless you reply to them outside the forum system.

I should also point out that MacRumors is very careful about its privacy policy. Your email address is never given out to anyone else or used to send you email unless you request it, e.g., with a thread subscription or by using the "Contact Us" form, or if there is an issue with your individual account.

^ Cheers Dr.Q. This was by direct email unfortunately. Tbh though I giggled when I received it, and was more amused than annoyed :)

Register on MacRumors! This sidebar will go away, and you'll see fewer ads.
