Hey there beautiful people!
Got myself a bit of a problem with my Gmail account, hopefully with your help I can get it worked out. First, I suddenly started receiving a BOATLOAD of spam on my Gmail and I can't seem to figure out why. It seems to have started December 18th, but I don't remember giving out my email address any time recently before then. The spam is nearly all from fake "pharmacy" vendors with some crap about viagra and vicodin specials in the subjects and addresses. It is very maddening because I have gotten maybe 5-10 pieces of spam in the history of this account, which has been several years, and all of a sudden it now has become tainted like this. Since it started it has been kind of coming in waves, 3-5 messages on certain days, around 3-6 days apart. I know it's not an easy thing to do, but with such a sudden beginning to the problem is there any way at all to try and investigate the source or remove myself from whatever list I got onto? If not, what's my best option for dealing with it besides manually adding each address to my block rule? (Of course the addresses seem to always vary, each one sending me a few pieces of junk before the next comes along, so that would be a never ending task.) Any chance the barrage will stop or have the floodgates been eternally opened on this account?
Also, the spam only shows up in Mail, not in Gmail when I access it via Firefox. It doesn't get to my inbox in either place (Gmail and/or Mail's spam filters recognize it at the very least) but it shows up in Mail>All Mail but not anywhere in Gmail on a browser. Anyone know what gives there?
Agh I've been such a neat freak keeping spammers away from my prized Gmail and now it's getting all soiled
