For a while I've been getting random spam text messages from different AIM accounts advertising Vicodin and stuff like that - pure spam. Maybe in the past couple of months I've gotten a total of 4 or 5 of these. Annoying but not too big of a deal.
Well in the last few days I'm getting a handful a day. Since I only have the 200 a month text plan I was concerned that a good chunk of my 200 messages were going to be spam (last month I had 195) so I called AT&T. They told me to send "out" to 265019 to block all text messages coming from AIM. I immediately got a reply back (from AIM) saying I wouldn't get any messages in the future.
I'm not always pleased with AT&T but this put a smile on my face.
By the way... Big fan of TextNow, which you can find in the app store. Both my wife and I had the 1500 text a month plan and we were consistently around 500 texts a month each with 300+ going back and forth to each other. We're saving $20 a month by dropping to the 200 text plans and using Textnow to send messages back and forth to each other.
