Spanish language for Mac in Microsoft for Mac

I have just purchased a Mac book pro and installed Microsoft for Mac and tried changing the language setting for the spell checker to Spanish.
I have selected the dictionary as Spanish and check add, but still my documents do not spell check in Spanish.

I used to have no problem on my PC laptop with the same function in Microsoft Word. Can anyone help please in order that I keep my sanity

Thank you for the link.
I am not familiar with Scripts, but will try to work my way through it.
I am amazed that we need to be technically savvy to be able to use languages in MS Office.

Do all euro language users jump through these hoops?
