I have bought a new 4TB HD and am considering setting it up in 2 partitions, 3.4TB ExFAT, and rest a pw protected partition, would 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted)' be the choice? I tried by have erasing the HD in disk utility, first time choosing to format the entire drive to Mac OS Extended (Journaled), and tried to add 2nd partiton as 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted)' with the appropriate size, but no success, so I erased the HD again, to format the entire drive to ExFAT, then trying to add 2nd partiton as 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted)' but that doesn't work either. please help!
Though thought about it, would the easiest way to setting up a pw protected folder, to keep personal data private, be to use disk image on an ExFAT formatted drive (so for easy compatibility with my samsung tv which has USB ports and possible PC's ). "sparse bundle disk image" for a disk image that only uses as much space as it needs, (sounds ideal for changing size of my files) rather than a set amount of space can an encrypted partition be as dynamic as that, use as much space that it needs? which is better . sparse bundle disk image or a 2nd encrypted partition ?
my mac is running Sierra 10.12.1
thanks for your advice and opinion
