I loved the Logitech 715i. But as per Logitech, it will not work with the iPhone 5, an adapter would be of no help per the representative. Anyway, I no longer have it.

I have a tough bill to fill. I want good quality and portable enough to fit in a suitcase or backpack when I travel. A speaker dock with rechargeable battery would be great, but I can live without a battery.

[I do not have an iPhone 5 yet... I'm waiting on the new one.]

I don't have a specific recommendation, but consider a speaker that connects wirelessly.

The Apple Lightning to 30-pin Adaptor will not work but the Apple Lightning to 30-pin Cable will. It is a little awkward because the cable is stiff and not that long. I still have the Logitech S715i and have used the Apple Lightning to 30-pin cable to connect my iPhone5. It works (charges while playing/not playing music when plugged to AC power).
