Speaker mesh question for series 8 owners...

I have had my silver aluminum series 8 since launch and I recently noticed that the speaker grill is a different color on the one side.

Is this by design or did I receive a weird cosmetic defect? Do others have this on their series 8?

Here are some pictures. You can see the little gray/black portion on the bottom.

Two weeks ago I got an S8 silver and S8 SS gold. The pics are attached. My silver looks like yours but it's strange that the gold is definitely different.
