speaker problems, is it broken?

Hi all,

when I am using speaker phone, sound only come out of my left speaker (looking at the phone). Is this normal or is the one speaker disabled when using speaker phone?

I will admit though, when I first got my iPhone last year, I was listening to it one day and noticed my other "speaker" was not working. So I looked online and found out, it was a mic. Not a speaker

I felt like an idiot. Lol. However, it is cool that they made each side look identical.
