Speaker Static Situation

Hey y'all-

I'm getting a TON of static in my seperate speakers I bought for my MBP. I think it's because the cable for them from the MBP is close to the power cord- the speaker aren't the issue, they're silent when unplugged from the headphone jack. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to shield the cord, or what else it could be.

Plug them into something else to make sure the cable isn't bad.

Hey I plugged the cable into my iPod and left the cable and everything else in the exact same spots. It apparently isn't cable interference, apparently its my MBP causing the static in the line. Any ideas?
