Speakerphone doesn't work at all (Yes, I've searched lol)

Sooo my sister got her 16gb white iphone

i've noticed when it is set to 'ringer' (to play ringtones) It does not..
made me curious. I uploaded some music...it did not play as well
Also, none of the regular sounds work (i.e., texting, dialing, etc)

I've tried to 'reset' it and also the headphone jack trick..
I'm starting to believe this iphone is defective...what is yalls insight on this?

Try the obvious stuff (volume level, settings, etc). If nothing there then restore the phone in iTunes. Still no dice? Take it back...
