Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but it does involve my iMac.
im really short on space. I mean really short

Now ive got a pair of floorstanding speakers that i know arent shielded, when i put them too close to my tv i got rainbow colours and stuff,, so i swapped my tv with my mac, and its now far enough away,
my question is,, would the speakers cause any problems for my imac? I can see no short term effects, but im thinking long term,,,,

thank you

Lee

Any unshielded speakers can damage CRTs with the field from the speakers magnet. Keep unshielded speakers at least 2 feet from your CRT or you can cause permanent damage.

of course, unless its a G3 iMac, there is no CRT. So I'd say that if the original poster has a G4 or G5 iMac, there shouldn't be any problems.

with the G5 iMac in your sig you should be fine. the LCD screen wont have any damage. though only thing the speakers could effect is the HD but hard drives these days are very shielded and should be safe. just for fun one day i tried taking some really powerfull magnetrs and putting them ON and old 2GB HD (eseintially a worthless old HD that still functioned) and when i put the HD back in a computer it still worked fine!! so i think you are safe.
