Speakers for MacBook Pro

i have my monitor setup and my MacBook Pro, therefore the sound is not always clear since its in the closed position.

Wondering what’s a good speaker? Been looking at either Bose Companion 20 or 2... anyone tried with other Bluetooth speakers? Like Bose home speakers or Sonos? Does it work... speakers will have to be able to play all sounds and not just music. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Too many variables that depend on preference here. What does "other sounds" mean? Gaming? Sound effects? All, I am assuming, but it's important because if you're a big gamer, you're going to want some fives with a sub. Maybe you'd want some eights, with or without a sub. Maybe it doesn't matter and you can get some mini monitors, with or without a sub.

I have:
Adams F7 - 7" monitors with ribbon tweeters
iHome IP1
Kanto YU2 - 3" mini monitors
KRK ST6 - 6" passive monitors
Pioneer SW-10 - 10" sub

I use them all on one desk setup for music production, in a treated room. The YU2s are GREAT little consumer monitors. Especially if you're not huge on bass and don't need a sub. They have incredible low end though.

actually not much of a gamer... just good sound when I watch videos etc. All "other sound" meaning any sound effect from mbp. Will bluetooth speakers work? like Bose, Sony, Ultimate Ears Boom?

I'd mention KEF LSX, these are just released speakers that should sound and look very sexy but the price reflects that, its semi-audiophile product. I was interested in KEF LS50W but the price and size/power were a bit too much for my needs. Now the LSX is just right.


Edifier Luna Eclipse are well known speakers for their looks if those works with your home interior. The design is way above the price but sound quality is lacking compared to the speakers listed by vemac.

I still use the Bowers & Wilkins MM-1, which I purchased a few years ago. They are outstanding. If you're interested in good sound, I suggest you google some of the reviews for this set.
