When recording with logic pro, I use 2 old hi-fi speakers as monitors. I have them situated next to my iMac, one either side, facing me. I heard that having speakers next to your computer can damage the screen, un-less the speakers/monitors have magnetic shielding in them. Can anyone shed some light on the subject - whether this is true or false?

Thanks, Matt.

I'm guessing you're using one of the newer iMacs, speakers shouldn't be much of a problem. I can't think of a reason why a small magnetic field would have much of an effect on a LCD or a LED display. Mind you, it would have an effect on a CRT display.

Yeah I had a feeling it was only CRT monitors that were affected. There hasn't been any noticeable effects so far, so I'll take your word for it.

Thanks Paolo :)

if my speakers aren't magnetically shielded, it wouldn't effect the electronics inside my mac either would it?
Sorry, just getting a lil paranoid right now!
