so i have a pair of logitech Z523 that i have had for 4-5 years, maybe more. anyways, the 9 pin plug broke (the "hex bolts" broke off the female plug). it has the infamous sub humming (bad ground). I liked the sound of them. i am still hoping i can fix them, but seems a lost cause.

ANYWAYS, i picked up a pair of Logitech z533s from best buy earlier this week. i have 2 weeks to return them. the sound is similar to my old ones.

I keep hearing about the Mackie speakers. i don't want to spend a ton, but i listen to music all the time when editing photos - and in general. i don't have the bass turned up, just enough to add to the experience:).

any speakers i am overlooking? is there a huge difference in sound in this price range. I DISLIKE cables and cords. what a mess. anyways, any experience/advice is appreciated. i don't want to have to return the Mackies is the sound isn't better, as returns on amazon aren't the most painless; especially when "fulfilled by amazon".
