im not sure if i installed something, or tinkered with some setting but within the last few days when i wake my computer from sleep it announces my location. it says welcome to ...., Ca. i have no idea why its doing this. how can i find out. i have tried everything, to no avail. activity monitor, etc. please help.

System Preferences > Universal Access > Voice Over Utility maybe?

Btw, just out of curiosity, what specific Mac (System Profiler will help) and what specific Mac OS X version (About This Mac) do you have and use?

Also how come that your Mac does know the location? Do you have some kind of GPS connected? Or are the W-LAN names locations? Are the LOCATIONS named after locations?

I have this problem and it's driving me insane.

All universal access is off.
I only have one location in my network settings.
I trashed all the speech and "universal" preferences.
I changed the date/time to not automatically update based on location.

None of this made any difference.

Any ideas on what would cause this? Help!!
