Spec help! rMBP 15

I am switching to my first mbp and I want to know if this will suit my needs. I saw this 2012 model on eBay nearly maxd out for just under $1000 In great condition.
(So note that all specs are the 2012 versions)
2.3ghz quad core
16gb ram
256 sata ssd

I want to do some low/moderate video editing in final cut (will I get decent rendering times?)
Some very light gaming, and eventually college. Will this be good for me?

Looks like a pretty sound deal to me - you probably also want to budget for a fast external disk array though if you plan on video editing with the machine - that will likely be your bottleneck given the rest of the specs.
