I was planning on loading up my new MP with 2x500 GB WD hard drives, the Caviar RE2 version. They have a write time of 8.9 ms and seek time of 8.5 ms. On newegg.com, they're $116 each (they were $130 2 weeks ago, huzzah for waiting since that cancels out the $20 increase in OWC's RAM since I waited!).
But I got a coupon from NewEgg for the WD 750 GB Caviar SE16 version. Regular price is $155, the coupon is for $150 (so I'd save $10 ... w00t). However, that hard drive has a write time of 10.9 ms (22% slower) and a seek time of 8.9 ms (5% slower).
My question is: In practical applications, would I actually notice this speed difference? Such as when using it as a scratch disk for Photoshop, or boot time, etc?
