Hello, I just got a speck Hard Shell see through satin for my 15in MacBook Pro and the top fits very loosely. There is almost half a cm between the apple logo and the inside of the case. Is this normal? Should I return it and get a different one? Is there a simple fix for this? Sorry for all of the questions but I am a little up set that I spent almost 50 bucks on this and its so loose. Any insite would be nice. Also at the bottom of the screen there is not clamps. Is this normal?

Thanks, Matt.

While I've never used one of these on my laptop, I've seen them on others. There shouldn't be a gap. Do you have the top on the correct way? I don't believe there are clamps on the bottom, but like I said, I don't have one.

Thank you for responding. Its on the right way and it covers the perimeter of the laptop but in the middle there is a huge gap and the bottom is pretty loose.

It doesn't sound normal from what I have seen. I have one coming in for my rMBP, but have not used one before. I would recommend taking it back to where you got it (return or exchange) or contact Speck directly as they have good customer service.

Do you think speck would be willing to help me even though I purchased the case from Amazon?

There is suppose to be a gap between the body and the shell.
This is to prevent direct shock from the outside to the MBP.

However, if the case is loose like it shakes, then thats a different story.

But half a cm? That seems like too much of a gap to me.

I contacted speck, they told me that what I am experiencing is a miss molded top and that it is covered under warranty. You said that it is suppose to have a gap. Should it just be a tiny gap or is it pretty large?

Not even 3mm.
1~3mm gap between the case to reduce the shock.

Is it barley noticeable?

You can barely tell.
This is my seeThru case and this is how much space is between.
That little notch in the middle absorbs all the shocks.

(its in both size so you can tell how it looks from far and close up)

It has the small shock absorbing dots but in the middle the space increases to a lot more than the small dots. I think I will just send it back to speck. They told me that its covered under warranty and its not a normall occurrence.

Thanks for the pics :)

return it, my wife has one of these cases on her MBP and there's not as much distance as yours between the lid and the MBP

Thank you for the information. I just wasn't sure if it was normal or not but is sounds very abnormal thanks guys!
