question if you had one choice speck persidio, Otterbox commuter , apple leather , or leather folio which would you choose ? For iPhone X, buddy is giving away his stash and gave me first choice .

I vote Apple Leather also.

Edit: I also would recommend the silicone
Picked one up and the fit and finish is actually better than the leather.

Well thanks all I went with the black Apple leather , the folio one is nice though as well .

All Apple made leather cases are not strong enough to protect an iPhone if it falls. Apple iPhone cases are made for fashion mainly. Otterbox is a better choice if an excellent protection is what you want. Specs is fair.

For fashion, sure apple leather is for the win. For drop and damage protection, otterbox is the winner.

Something that makes the phone like a brick sure better offer damage protection. But who wants to make a beautiful $1k phone look like a brick?

Apple leather offers a classy look.

Otterbox symmetry clear case does not make the beautiful iPhone X look like a brick

while at the same, the case makes it safer from damage from dropping while exposing the beauty of the back color of the phone.
Sure, the leather case looks classy but it does not fully protect the phone fully like otterbox does. It also covers the beauty of the back color of the phone so whatever iPhone color you pick is not a big deal anymore.

I’ll give you the backside visibility, but the bumper rim is too thick. Makes the phone much bigger. Clear cases seem cheaper in general.

Best way is to use the iPhone X naked! Leather cases are much classier than clear cases.

The Apple cases protect better than you’d think they would, and they look/feel awesome. However, if you need rugged drop protection the Speck or Otterbox is the way to roll.

Experience-I have three year old who manhandles my phone daily. I can’t err on the side of fashion...

I know the feeling. I have used Speck cases on my previous two iPhones, and never had a problem despite a number of drops. I have a Speck Presidio on my iPhone X, along with an iCarez screen protector. I'd really like to get an Apple leather case, and I'm thinking maybe that will work out since my kids are 5 and 7 now. That 5 year old is still unpredictable though! This Summer he somehow spazzed out and go ahold of my $1,200 camera with a $700 lens attached and pulled it to the concrete (total accident, but he was running around like a little madman and sort of tripped and got tangled in the strap). Now I have a camera with a broken LCD and my ultrawide lens needs a $200 repair! The leather case still offers pretty good protection, but the bottom edge is exposed. Accidents happen with small children, so maybe I will stick with maximum protection a while longer. :(

If someone really likes leather, the Mous limitless comes in black leather. I have had it on my phone for several weeks. Great feel and smell of leather but t also great protection.
