So after looking all over town for a case with otterbox style protection after being unimpressed with the ease that most cases slipped off the iPhone I bought a Speck CandyShell. That case had issues with the flash and Speck sent me the PixelSkin to hold me over until they comeout with a new design for the CandyShell, and this case is so awesome I might just tell them to forgetabout it. It seems to have great protection. It fits very tight and offers easy access to the silent switch, as well as great power and volume button operation. It is rubbery but without the stickiness of silicone cases (almost has a velvetly feel to it). It, like all cases, adds some bulk to the phone, but it is worth while to save me from the pain of a drop.

I cannot edit yet and realized I forgot to comment on the connections. The headphone jack readily accepts my shure headphones, and leaves plenty of room for the second mic.The 32 pin connector port is slightly larger then the stock cable head, and this may give it the ability to handle aftermarket cables. This case is a buy for sure, and with otterbox taking its sweet time bringing a ip4 case to market I think this will quickly make itself a crowd favorite.

tnaks for the pics. As a pixelskin owner for the 3G I was very pleased that they released a version on the i4. After seeing the pics and your review I'm getting one for sure. Thanks!!!

Do you like it more than the Candyshell?

Same boat, have one with the flash glare and they sent me a pixelskin which is at home and I will get next week when I return. That's as a holdover before the revised Candyshell comes out.

was mostly worried about the stickiness you talked about with silicone sleeves. None of that at all? As easy to slip in and out as the hard Candyshell from your pocket?

How does it compare in terms of thickness with the Candyshell?

I like it more than the candyshell, but it does seem to be slightly bulkier. Not as easy to slip in and out as the candy shell, but that is due to a few factors (its ribbed, its rubber and it is slightly larger), but is easy enough (I wear clothes that fit me as well, nothing baggy, but nothing tight either) in both jeans, dockers and cargo shorts. It wont have the issues of scratching like the candyshell, but it does pick up lint very easy, neither of those is an issue for me, actually I ride public transport so I perfer a case that hides my iphone and isnt flashy.

Solid review. I'm not a fan of rubber cases but this one is decent.

Definitely prefer the hard case and tighter fit of the CandyShell but the larger connector opening is a plus for the PixelSkin. Also the PixelSkin is much easier to remove if you need to put the phone in an armband or car mount.

i'm the opposite. I love the CandyShell. But yes the back of your CandyShell will be scuffed after a day. But that's just how it is... Black shows everything also. I feel the CandyShell offers better drop protection. Also the feel is nice and the fit is perfect. Plus I like the looks.

If they made this case in orange, I would buy it in half a heartbeat.

I just got my Pixel Skin today from Speck while they replace my Candyshell. Decent case, not usually a fan of silicon but this one feels nice. Smells a bit though, does yours?

So since they sent you this one as a temporary replacement for the candy shell, I'm guessing this one does not have any flash issues? Have you checked?

Also, how much more thick is it, you mentioned it's bulky, can you give any measurements/approximations?

Thanks! this looks like the only working case so far I guess

I just got mine today as well and I love this thing almost more than the candyshell. I did take picture with the flash on and there were no issues at all

would anyone mind taking a head-on photo of the case and iphone side by side? i want to get a good representation of how much thicker the phone will be with this case. id appreciate it a lot

Here ya go.The first pic has the case and phone perfectly aligned at the bottom (out of the field of view) and shows off the difference in size the best.

There is a rubbery smell, but I did not notice it until after I read your post and even then had to get real close and smell real hard.

thanks for the pics. they are great!
the pixelskin hd is made of tpu, would it be less protective from falls or drops? compared to silicone which i think the regular pixel skin is made of, that is.

Just bought the i4 and installed the PixelSkin in my phone and the CandyShell in my wife's i4. I got to say that I'm really dissapointed with the i4 version of the PixelSkin. It seems too loose on one side and the "pixels" don't seem so grippy as the 3G/GS version of it. However the CandyShell is almost perfect, it works great, it is light and it not that slippery when in hand. Now i'm counting the days until I can buy a CandyShell for my phone.

why can't we see very many colors in the better quality cases? I can't find a yellow silicone case for the life of me. about the only thing out there is black purple and pink and blue and red.
