My friend told me that the SSD that can be added onto the new mbp is one of the best out there right now..

Is this true? because I haven't seen Apple release any information about their SSD hard drives..

If it's the same SSD as in https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/635291/, then the Intel X-25 SSD is apparently way better than the one given by Apple. But, note the discussion about BootCamp issues.

That's not correct. The 256GB SSD is a new generation and should be faster than the previous 128GB SSD used. I don't think anyone has benchmarks yet but the claimed performance by Samsung could make it faster than the Intel X25-M.

ill totally go for one when they have a 500gb ssd
