So, to be clear, this was my error but so big I thought I'd share it as a word for caution for everyone.
Installed Win 7 today in a Bootcamp partition. When I was splitting the drive I created one the same size as the SSD partition. All went well. When I was selecting a drive to add the Win 7 install into I got the error stating it was the incorrect drive format so I erased the drive and thought nothing more about it. I looked through the available drives and saw one labelled 'Bootcamp' so proceeded to install into that drive.
When I tried to reboot into my mac OS I got as far as a grey screen with the forbidden circle icon. Hmmm.
After some googling I realised with a sickening thought that I'd just wiped my OS during the Bootcamp install. HOLY **** BALLS...
I had to reboot into Recovery. Erase the entire Mac drive, install the OS again and now I'm four hours into a Time Machine recovery.
The ironic thing about this whole experience is I installed the wrong version of Win 7 and have to install the correct one tomorrow - MSDN labeling went ary.
