Spectrum's "zero sign on" can't currently be overridden.

This issue won't affect the majority of users but it's giving me issues. It seems Spectrum has activated their portion of the new "zero sign on" that Apple announced at WWDC. The activation web page for apps like AMC or FX ask me to select my provider but when choosing Spectrum it no longer asks for my userid or password. Sounds great but it isn't for me because I only have cable TV service at my weekend house and here at my weekday house I have only internet service. So when I try to activate and app it's picking up my internet-only Spectrum account and not allowing me access. I called Spectrum and the tech said that "zero sign on" had been active for about a month but that she'd not heard of this issue and she opened a support ticket for me.

A workaround to activate apps on my iPad was to tether it to my iPhone cellular connection during that activation. That seemed to work but for Apple TV having just the activation web browser on cellular wasn't enough and I guess the Apple TV will also need to be tethered. I'll be testing that tonight.

I'm hoping Apple might build an override into their TV app for this but as it's not the general case I'm not hopeful. I hope they aren't moving to a "app activation required on home network" approach. This will also be an issue for situations like Airbnb stays, etc.

I have a internet only Spectrum account I hope it does not cause issues as I log into single sign on with Dish Network.
