Here's a weird thing:

I installed the recent Apple Thunderbolt Update. As usual for system installers, the user gets logged out and the OS X presents a "grey screen" in which the installer runs, before a restart.
While the installer was doing its thing in the grey screen, there was a black box at the bottom left with a useful message in it. I can't remember the exact text, but it was something like "System Update installing".

The message in the box was also SPOKEN by the OS X Speech software.

Now: I have Speech OFF; I have VoiceOver OFF; I have "Anounce when alerts are displayed OFF; and my default speech voice is a woman, whereas this was a man. As stated, I presume the user is logged out when the installer is running in any case.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Could I have possibly pressed <Command>F5 accidentally while in the "userless" mode? Seems unlikely, but even so, there should then be a plist key. I can't find any relevant System-level preference file.

Thoughts? Thanks.
