If I connect the display to a m1 pro max macbook and plug my anker 1GbE network usb-c adapter via the screen or via diretcly
I got with blackmagic speedtest 104 vs 80 MB/s

So much question how slow or fast is the hub in the new apple studio display

This has been reported several times — seems to be some kind of a compatibility issue with certain USB-ethernet chipsets but not others. I have a D-Link 2.5GbE adapter which runs at full speed when connected to the Studio Display, while my 1GbE Belkin adapter runs at only 400mbit/sec.

Do a search here and on Google for a list of adapters that work without issue when plugged in through the Studio Display.

Best theory is that the USB ports are routed through the A13 processor in the display versus just being dumb extensions of the Mac the display is plugged in to, creating problems for some peripherals.
