Speed problems after migration

So I just got a new 2.0 Macbook and used migration assistant to move all my files from a 2 year old Macbook 1.83 with 2GB of RAM.

I have found that there really hasn't been any speed increases despite the computer supposedly being much faster.

Any explanation for this?
