put my old ip4 and new 4s next to each other. tapped apps at same time.. 4s NO FASTER.. if anything they are the same

Where the apps in the multitasking tray? Remove them from there are try again. They'll be a difference.

So the iPhone 4 switched to the app and the 4S loaded it? With that method the 3Gs could be equally as fast.

ok took apps both out of tray.. the 4s is marginally faster

Same here. Ran speed test on both my 4 and my wife's 4S and down avg. about 0.2 Mbps faster while up was about 0.3 Mbps faster on the 4S (3.3 down, 1.2 up).

My bad, glanced over your initial post a bit too quickly. That being said, I expected the 4S to have faster download/upload speeds considering it supposedly supports HSPA+.

that said i expected it to be all around faster

Yeah, like twice the processor power faster.

i dunno what to do.. i was gonna return it now i dont know.. i still dont see these people who say so much faster..

my 4 - with what 512ram, lesser processoor.. is the same or fastere me thinks

I think it's the apps. Open up something that puts it through the paces and you'd certainly see a difference. The standard cal message etc., stuff wasn't developed to be hyper fast on any processor. You're doing a test akin to running safari on a mini and comparing it to safari on a mac pro. It's still just safari and runs at decent speed. Try something like Final Cut Pro, or autoCAD, if you want to see why the eight other processors were put in that MP>;):p

Those people saying it's faster have fallen into the apple hype and/or are apple fanboys. It by no means has a dramatic difference in speed. Some posters have even stated that the 4 may even be faster than the 4S.

which i would never use.. so the "speed" is useless to me .. so i'm returning it

(they can reactivate my old phone?)

yes yes!

Are you talking about the speedtest.net app? If so, this is perfectly normal. It means that the tower you're on is HSPA, not HSPA+, so the iPhone 4 is just as capable as the 4S on that tower. The 4S is capable of faster speeds under HSPA+, but only if the tower supports it.

no no.. i'm talking app speed.. system stuff speed

Unless, ATT has HSPDA+ in your area, it will be same speed as far as 3g or 4g. As far as loading apps, it varies!

well here's the thing.. on the 4 they were.. on the 4s no .. i had reset all.

Talk about blind leading the blind.
