How can i speed up my old Powerbook g4 other than hardware as i already have 2GB of ram in it and i do not want to replace the hard drive. I dont care if they are basic to crazy! I am running 10.5.8.
Use TenFourFox as a internet Browser
Tweaks with Onyx:
Disable Spotlight Indexing
Disable transparent menu bar
Disable 3D dock and use 2D with Transparent backfround
Turn off Dashboard
Use SpeedFreak to boost front application performance.
Turn Off bluetooth and any network sharing features.
Use "List" in dock instead of a fly out selection window on the applications and user icon.
Turn the "Genie" effect to "Scale" effect in dock settings.
Use "YouView" for youtube viewing, skips ads <3
Open up Disk Utility - Select Startup Disk - Verify Permissions
Use "ShadowKiller" to remove the shadow effect on windows.
HARDCORE MODE:
If you want to be hardcore about it you can take it apart, repaste the CPU & GPU with ArticCooling MX5 and use G4 Fan Control to improve heat management.
Overclock the GPU in ATiCelerator 1. I got some insane results from doing that. Although if you damage your GPU, Don't come crying to the forums and blame me.
That's pretty much all I can remember for now.
