Part of the reason why I brought a macbook was so that I would play less games and do more work. But... There are plenty of good games for mac! If you are more interested in good gameplay / storyline than graphics there are some really awesome games out there!

Since I got my macbook I've discovered:

- nethack
- angband
- freeciv
- uplink
- nethergate resurrection
- geneforge
- (avernum is waiting for me!)
- enigma
- eschalon book 1

so much for work sigh...

anyone have any others to add?

Nethergate Resurrection singlehandedly cost me years of my life, I'm sure. It couldn't have been good to not sleep for 3 days playing that till my eyes bled. Must kill one more shade, must make it to next act. Vogel is like a drug dealer. A sweet pixelated drug dealer.

lol. i remember when i discovered:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Might_and_Magic_VI:_The_Mandate_of_Heaven

My office mate picked up a copy for $20 in about 2001 and gifted it to me and I think I spend about one month solid on it. Totally addicted! First computer game I really got into.

I purchased a couple of the later ones but they never quite did it for me the way that one did. I appreciated the better maps (so I knew where the person I was trying to find in the village was) and the better graphics were nice... But the game play simply wasn't as good. Or maybe it is just that nothing ever is quite like that first one you discover. I was just astounded at how big the world was...

I am finding Nethergate Resurrection to be fairly addictive... But am managing to limit my game playing time. Funnily enough... Keep getting drawn back into freeciv, too.

Thanks for the other suggestions! I hadn't heard of the first two. Battle for Wesnoth seemed fairly big to install... But I will certainly get to it one day!

So... At a time when everyone else had an Amiga500 I got an AtariST. There was a games package that you could get and one of the games was `black lamp'. I actually remember being fairly addicted to that. Anyone know of this one or whether there is anything like it available now? Bombjack... Nebulous... But for some reason... Black lamp was pretty good (ah, now all my computer addiction memories are coming back...) There was another... But I can't remember its name... Sort of role playing but not quite... Wizards and portals but I can't quite remember for the life of me...
