Spilled beer on spacebar on white macbook 2.4

My buddy called me because apparently I am the go to guy for fixing broken macs. Anyhow he spilled Modelo above his spacebar.

Unfortunately he tried to power it on several times over.. but after some time he decided to remove the battery and ram. Apparently he has found the locations of the water detection tape inside from a guide on the net.

If we open the laptop up using the ifixit.com guide is there any risk the genius bar would recognize it was opened assuming we reassembled it perfectly?

What should he do in this situation?

Open it up. Apple knows that its been beered up, so your warranty is screwed no matter how you play it. If you can open it, clean all the beer off and get it back together perfectly, it might work fine and live a long happy life.
