Hi, a couple weeks ago i spilled some tea on the upper left corner of my laptop. The buttons controlling brightness on the screen acted a little crazy for two days, and my left shift key no longer works, but the only thing that's really bothering me is my computer refuses to stay in sleep mode. it will come out of sleep mode in a matter of seconds. i checked the console and it usually gives me "wake reason uhc3" ... Can someone help me out? I've googled extensively and can't really find any information? Should I just get a new keyboard?

If you open Keyboard Viewer, do you see any keys pressed constantly?

 -> System Preferences -> International -> Input Menu -> (select) Keyboard Viewer, then click on the new icon in your menubar (usually a little flag) and select Show Keyboard Viewer.

I'd be fine but having problems sleeping as well if I did that to my MB. ;)

A few questions:
1. What kind of "laptop" do you have?
2. What version of OSX are you using?
3. Do you have any USB devices attached?
4. Uncheck all the following options:
Sys Pref>Bluetooth>Advanced>Allow Bluetooth to wake computer from sleep
Sys Pref>Desktop/Screen Saver>Change Picture every xx minutes
Sys Pref>Energy Saver>(Settings for Power Adapter Tab) Wake for ethernet access
Sys Pref>Print & Fax>(Faxing tab) Receive Faxes On This Computer box
(Also check that you don't have anything in the print queue)

1. What kind of "laptop" do you have? Macbook pro

2. What version of OSX are you using? 10.5.8

3. Do you have any USB devices attached? no

4. All of the options have been unchecked :(

Does it do it when it's plugged in as well as just running on battery?
I'd try resetting the SMC:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

If that doesn't do it then the tea spill may have hit a circuit and is creating a power "leak". It might be more than just the keyboard that needs to be replaced.:(

i don't know why i waited so long to try this, but the smc reset worked! thank you soo much :)
