I bought a MacBook Air in 2015, but spilled tea on it just a few weeks after I got it. I turned it off and didn't touch it for two weeks. Since then, everything has been fully functional, all the keyboard keys kept working etc. After four years, still no sign of any damage at all.
However, I am a bit worried. Years ago, the same happened to me with another Apple laptop. That time, after I spilled water on this laptop I simply kept using it, and some keys were broken. All in all, it still worked fine for years (with an external keyboard), until suddenly the battery swelled immensely and I had to throw it away (after using it for five years).
Should I just keep using my current MacBook Air? Or should I get rid of it and buy a new one, just to be sure? Is a swollen battery the worst that can happen, or would there be any risk of it suddenly catching fire or exploding or anything like that?
By the way, I learned my lesson and now keep liquids very far away from my computer.
