So i spilt a cup of apple juice over my alum. macbook and it seemed fine at the time after i tried to dry it. But now around 5 or 6 of the keys are really sticky, and take a while for them 'rise' again after being pressed. Has anyone got any tips on how to clean the keyboard properly? Or should i just take it into Apple? :(

Thanks

Apple juice on your Mac, how painfully ironic.

I think you should be OK though, try just using a damp (but not too damp at all) cloth and (after turning off your MB) rub it over the keys gently, making sure that no water oozes down under the keys.

If that doesn't solve it, try with washing up liquid (again, miniscule amounts) on the cloth to cut out the grease.

Failing this, an alcohol solution (sorry, don't know the names of any) should cut the stickiness away.

Good luck, hope your MB is apple juice free soon.

Man that sucks, but its also kinda funny in an ironic sense. Best advice is get some alcohol swabs and a can of compressed air. Since the keyboard is chiclet, that will help with getting the alcohol down into the keys... good luck

Dude you cannot be serious.

OP do a search on the countless other threads relating to liquids being spilled on a keyboard for tips on how to clean. If you walk it into Apple they won't help you clean it for free and will most likely say you need a new logic board ... regardless of the fact that your MB seems to be ok (for the time being).

Thanks for the quick reply guys. Will give it a go later tonight. Hopefully i won't snap any of the keys off!

Lately, there seem to be daily threads started about spilling coke, tea, water, juice in MacBook/MacBook Pro keyboards.

I've been on MacRumors almost five years now, and I've never seen (or maybe just not noticed) so many such threads before.

Should we have a sticky?

Pun intended

I agree there have been tons of threads about spillage lately. I don't mean to sound harsh but TBH you'd think after all these threads enough people would've come across them and learned from them and bought a keyboard protector, sheesh.

Wow ... any hope for this keyboard?

Am I the only one thinking that Apple should start selling iJuice at all their stores? All with the "unibody" iCup and a 20% markup compared to other Apple juice.

All jokes aside, as well as puns, the keys aren't hard to take off. The ones on my aluminum wireless keyboard (same keys, just different color) are very sturdy and have survived roughly 10 pop on/off due to crap getting under the space bar.
