I got my MDP-DVI cord today and tried it out. It works fine. I noticed when I had my Mid-2010 13" MBP connected to the external monitor that instead of a spinning beachball, it was the spinning gear that was showing up.

When I say spinning gear, its the spinning thing that is below the apple logo at startup.

Now that I have disconnected from the external monitor, my cursor will still turn into the spinning gear instead of the beachball.

Does anyone know why this has happened?

some apps, like photoshop change it into that.

THANK YOU!!! When I was playing around in Photoshop is when I first noticed it. I'm relieved not...I thought something went wrong with my laptop.
