Spirit won't detect device

Hey so I downloaded the spirit jailbreak but it won't detect my iPhone. I find this odd as iTunes detects the phone. Are there any possible programs I have installed that make it unable to detect? I'm running windows vista with an iPhone 3gs running 3.1.3

Long shot, but are you using a knock-off USB cable, running through a USB hub, etc?

I've got some el-cheapo HK cables and such that cause some very weird behavior.

It is open and the phone shows up in the sidebar

i think iTunes has to be closed while you run spirit to jailbreak. try that?

Also is your device locked (password)? Make sure it is on the home screen before you try spirit.

That could defintely be true my iPhone is locked I will try that thanks

if you are running vista then you may need to right click on your spirit.exe go to properties and run as windows 98 compatible, then spirit dialog box should automatically detect your device, it worked for me (iphone 3gs)
