Splashtop 2 no more port forwarding?

I was thinking about getting splashtop 2 on my ipad. Been reading the latest reviews on it and apparently they are now charging us for connection to our PC outside of our network. Could we still do port forwarding on it? I have splashtop HD on my android tablet which i am able to access my pc outside my network (port forwarding). Just wondering if this is possible on splashtop 2 on my ipad? Thanks
