split external partition (non destructively)

Hey, I'm trying to get time machine to work up, but I only have a single 500gb external hard drive. It's got about 50 gb of stuff on it that I'm not about to delete, but I need to split it into 2 partitions so I can use time machine... Anyone know of a program that can split it like that, without erasing what's on it?
