Split Single Monitor into 2 Virtual Monitors

Hello Experts!

I have a single 3840x1200 monitor. Is there any software that will "split" a single desktop into 2 virtual desktops, as if they were separate monitors? In other words, I need 1 (3840x1200) to become 2 (1920x1200).

Running: OS X 10.8.2 on late-2012 MBP.

Thank you for any guidance!
