splitting iTunes library

Does anyone know an app that let me split my iTunes library? My HD is reaching capacity and I'd like to move some podcasts to an external drive.

I know I can create a second library and switch between them but I wish I can find something more transparent. Commercial apps are fine.

you can do without 3rd party tools and just use iTunes. check out this thread. the instructions will work with any media files.

alternatively, you could use a (free) script such as this.

I'd like to keep some podcasts (the ones I watch regularly) in my internal HD and move externally only the podcasts I watch seldom.
I don't think I can achieve so with the method described in the tread you suggest. Correct?

However, I guess the script should work. I will give it a try.

no. you can selectively move content to another location using the method I suggested. it's like using that script, just involves the user a bit more

as long as iTunes is aware where the original file is located (which the method i suggested will make sure of) and the drive holding the content is mounted before iTunes is launched, i'm positive it will.
