Hi-
Quick RAID question that I can't seem to find an answer for.
I'm looking to do a low cost offsite backup for about 8tb. Wondering if I can do the following; can I buy a standard 2 bay 3.5" drive enclosure and set it for RAID 1 and then add my own disks when I need? Again, this is intended for offsite backup not daily access and I would then split the drives between locations for security.
Should I need to at a later date to retrieve the info would I then need the same enclosure to then read the drives and/or have the drive in the exactly the same order (Is there any proprietary software that's written into the drives from the enclosure)?
Also, will there be a primary drive such as Drive 1.1 and 1.2? Or will they be equal in accessibility? If equal would I then just be able to retrieve data from just one drive that's then been set in a random enclosure or docking station without any software or issues?
As for syncing on my end I currently use Chronosync.
Thanks
