Recently I started to get weird behaviour from network shares. Using 10.5.2 on a MBP. The problem occurs against any server i've tried it against.
After copying a certain volume of data (either by file copy or just by reading shared data), the share becomes incredibly slow. Like 300MB file copy in 1min down to 3 hours.
Some observations about the problem:
1. Only slow when reading, not writing to the share.
2. Gets slow after copying a certain volume of data. Does not need to be a large file.
If I log into another profile on the MBP and the connect to that share it speeds up in the profile that had the problem. As soon as I disconnect that profile, it jams up again (NOTE: I just found that this is not consistently true). I am connecting to the AFP share as the same user, but from different profiles.
So my profile is always slow, but if I use another profile or simple connect to the share from another profile, all is well from both profiles.
Any ideas? Is there some kind of preferences file I can try deleting?
