Just wanted to announce my app here. http://www.SpoofApp.com.

Anyways, SpoofApp in conjuction with a caller id spoofing provider (currently only Phone Gangster, with more to follow real soon) allows you to make calls from your iPhone with any caller id number you want. It more or less allows you to use these service providers directly from your iphone, where normally you would have to call an 800 number or visit the providers website to make a call. It integrates with your contacts, and even offers built in voice changing (however at the moment, phone gangster doesnt offer it). Check it out and give me some feedback. Thanks - AL

PS: this works on the iPod Touch too. You just have to put your cellphone number in the settings menu and calls will be routed to your cell.

I agree there may be instances in which people could use this improperly, but what about a personal business owner who has multiple phone numbers and wants to make a business call from home or the road?

just as gmail allows you to manipulate the sending email.

I could see this likened to the p2p debate. just because a person can use the technology illegally you cannot bar all legal use.
 
this is a good thing!

i have a vonage phone number that "simul-rings" my home office and cell phone. i don't want my clients to have my cell phone number. so, now i can call them from my cell and have the caller id still reflect my vonage/business number. fantastic! great app!

that's definitely the worst part, hoping for a free service eventually. probably won't happen. as far as i know, all caller id spoofers cost money, and this is the only one for the iphone (i think).
 
Per Minute

Hey great use for SpoofApp for calling clients. Its also good for Pizza Delivery drivers that need to call the customers. Just call from the stores phone number so the customer knows who's calling. If you ever delivered pizza, you know you make lots of calls to customers. The next day someone always calls you and says... hey did u call me yesterday, your number was on the caller id. Or worse yet, its the middle of the night and you cant find the house so you call the customer, and they screen calls, and don't recognize your number so they don't answer and you waste your time.

Anyways, unfortunately SpoofApp is just a middle man in this whole caller id spoofing thing. Someone introduced me to this and i thought it was something that could be made into an App, so i made it. SpoofApp hands off your call info to a provider, who in turn handles the calling. I have no control over that, and i doubt a free provider will come along because it costs money to run a service like that. However... you can at least get a 5 minute free sample from Phone Gangster at http://phonegangster.com/free_spoofing_card.php?ref=spoofapp

Be warned, that in order to get the 5 minute sample pin, you have to "complete an offer". Its really simple, click an offer, enter your email, click through a few pages (takes under a minute) and the PIN is instantly emailed to you. Good luck and thanks again! - AL

The address book won't work with it. The names show up but no numbers. Is there a way to fix it? Everything else seems fine.
 
So has anyone tried using this in europe. i would imagine it would work, might be more expensive though. The app requires 10 digit numbers afaik. Norway has 8. anyway to bypass this. Sounds like a really cool app, and i definetly dont have the moral barrier some of these posters seem to have, so ill jailbreak my phone in a second, providing this app will work.

i hate this app these stupid girls keep callling me and i have no way to prove to tits them because their real number is hidden and i know its a spoof call because the number they were calling from was just cut off and what about stalkers now they can call the person they are stalking constantly and does the stalkee have any evidence NO and how about they person whose number your using did you get permission from them i think not if someone was using my number to annoying or prank someone and i gt in trouble for it id be pissed nd they prolly are child preditors, drug smugglers, gang members the list is endless of why this app is dangerous and stupid and i hate it BAN THIS APP!

LOL FUNNY..you just made an account to rant about this app..

anyways to hide a number there are different ways to go, not only this app..those girls could be use skype or anything like voip.

as far as stalkers goes, just change your #. simple as that.
i doubt drug smuggler or gang memebers would use this app for do illegal activities...most time they use prepaid and change their # constantly.
