Is there anyway to check your mac to see if anyone has any kind of SPYWEAR such as to watch your desktop or read your e-mail or remotely access your machine.

I am running MAC OS 10.6.8

Hi, there is a program called Little Snitch that monitors all network traffic entering and exiting your Mac. You can configure it to notify you and ask permission for each one, and that way you'll know what each application is doing.

I think you may of misunderstood.. I want to find out if someone was/is WATCHING my machine. How to see if that is being done to me. I have no interest in snooping on anyone else.

Is there any Apps, exts. prefs. or otherwise I should go look for?

I think you missed smirk's point. If someone is watching you, they are connecting to your computer over the Internet. A program like Little Snitch helps you see and control what data flows in and out of your computer, and so can help you detect such an intrusion.

A.

I can tell you for certain that unless you've installed such software yourself, or given someone access to your computer to install it, there is no such software on your Mac. No one can remotely install such software without your permission.

Let me ask this: Why do you think you have spyware on your computer?

In other words, please explain how you reached this conclusion. Is there some odd occurrence? Some unexpected data leak? Some emails seemingly sent from your account that you didn't send? In short, what's the evidence?

First off, I am naturally PARANOID! But just because I am paranoid don't mean they ain't out to get me.

Most people in my office have access to everyone elses machines so access wouldn't be an issue.

Not so mush things going on my machine more like a few strange things have been said in passing..

I did go and turn off everything "REMOTE..." EXCEPT FILE SHARING and when I went to go look if these things were turned on they were, such as remote login, screen sharing, ect..
