I have a 2011 MBP 17" 2.3Ghz i7, OS X 10.8.3. For a long time I have had uneven network performance, where running speedtest.net will return 7-8Mbps, then on an immediate retest get a latency error unable to connect to the remote server. I am most aware of it when I am downloading large files, as it will run fine for a while then suddenly network throughput will go to 0 or 1KB for a few minutes, then restart.

I have been blaming the Verizon MIFI (I have the 4620L), but am not starting to think it is my Macbook card. Am running the network diagnostics (found that through this forum!), but am looking for suggestions on tracing/debugging this.

Any ideas will be appreciated.
