Subscription music service Spotify has added iOS 6 support in its latest update, which should please the "developers" using the beta of Apple's next mobile software.

Among the other changes are a few bug fixes and the ability for iPad users to show more stations.
What's new

A lot of folks like the iOS 6 support we've brought to this update. We do too. But we also like:

o New: iPad users can now show more stations.
o Fixed: Login issues for users who only ever log in with Facebook.
o Fixed: Improved stability.
o Fictitious: This version is available in chocolate, strawberry or vanilla.
Spotify is a free download for the iPhone and iPad, but it does require a paid subscription to Spotify. [App Store]

Love how "developers" is in quotes ;-)

I actually use Spotify on my phone, and updated it to iOS 6 beta today, unaware there were compatibility issues, so this is nice to hear!

I use iTunes match instead... But there really isn't any streaming like Spotify has. Hope to see streaming support on the iphonr in iOS 6 too.

I wish they would spend more of their resources fixing all the existing bugs. Considering it's the most expensive of my apps (£9.99/m), it's also the buggiest.

(A single track repeat button would also be good.)

Still, I hardly use the Music app anymore.

the (pandora like) radio function didn't work on iOS 6 (neither on iPad nor iPhone)

Any developers here know what "iOS 6 support" actually means? Are they just adding features that only iOS 6 supports? I've downloaded apps that are years old and they've continued to work with every new version of iOS, despite not getting updated by their developers.

as i said, the radio feature that is working on spotify on iOS 5 was broken for iOS 6 beta. this got fixed

iTunes Match in iOS6 does support streaming, what would be awesome is a subscription service

I agree. I'd probably ditch spotify if iTunes had a subscription service. iTunes don't want to leave it too long to jump on that as spotify as going from strength to strength.

I thought that developers weren't allowed to upload apps for Beta iOSs to the App Store until right before the public release? Or is that just for apps that will only work on the new iOS? Maybe I'm getting confused in my old age.

Developers aren't allowed to upload apps compiled using beta versions of XCode that use the new APIs. Spotify was probably just fixing the way they were doing it in iOS 5.x so that it'll seamlessly work with iOS 6.0.
