In the coming weeks on iOS and Android, Spotify will be rolling out a new tab in its mobile app that will provide users with notifications about new songs and album releases from their favorite artists, podcasts shows, and more.

The new page will be accessible with a tap of a new bell icon placed on the top-right hand corner on the Spotify home page. Tapping provides users a "real-time" view of all the new releases from their favorite artists and podcast creators. As Spotify describes in a press release:
Easily access your What’s New feed by clicking the new bell icon, located at the top of the Home tab on your phone. A blue dot indicator on the bell icon will let you know at a glance if new songs or episodes have been released since your last visit. What’s New also includes filters that allow you to sort for new music releases or new podcast and show episodes, helping you find what you’re looking for more quickly.
Spotify says the new feature will be rolling out in the coming weeks for users, so be sure to be on the latest Spotify version for Android and iOS.

Let's hope they stay with only new releases I am following and not expand to any ''suggestions for your music taste'' etc...

I’d just like to see podcast notifications rolled out. I’ve had numerous updates to the app but this still isn’t an option.

This is what apple should have been doing for years now.
Apple Music needs so many improvements.
Feel like something i added to my library 2 days ago is already buried in the ether.
Give us 3 or 4 columns in recently added, and enable continuous scrolling. Or at least increase the viewing capacity a bit.

and let us tap the album cover in now playing view to see track list

This has appeared on my account now but there is a large gap from when something appears in the notification tab within the app to when you receive a notification on the lock screen.

Spotify is lightyears ahead of apple music with constant updates and quality of life improvements. I think the issue lies with the fact that Spotify's literal bread-and-butter is audio streaming. Apple Music is an added benefit for those that wish to stay in the ecosystem. While I am definitely in the latter group, I can't help but continue using Spotify as AM just doesn't have the features that Spotify has. Playlists are severely lacking. For instance, you can't organize playlists based on alphabetical with artists or putting most recent added songs automatically to the top without doing so on the Mac app.... Also I noticed a lot of curated playlists will have some songs explicit and others edited. I prefer explicit music. Spotify you can do everything via the mobile app (which in today's world is how it should be) and is consistent with explicit/non explicit music on their playlists. Not to mention they have MANY more options for playlists.

With that being said. If you love the apple ecosystem and generally like mainstream music its just fine and gets the job done.
